Salmon Run Course
BROOKINGS — Accuracy is the name of the game at the Salmon Run course near Brookings, Oregon.
Most of the holes aren’t terribly long, but they require straight shots and golfers will have to flirt with water throughout their 18-hole trek in the valley near the South Bank of the Chetco River that houses Jack Creek and some other smaller creeks.
And not surprising, given the name of the course, salmon pass through the fairways on their way to spawn, and can be seen from the many bridges across the water.
The slogan for Salmon Run follows the theme of the spawning salmon: “Once you’ve been here, instinct will bring you back.”
It’s catchy enough to bait golfers. And once they play here, the hook’s been set and Salmon Run likely will reel them back again. “I think the thing I like about Salmon Run ... is just the striking beauty of it,” Salmon Run Head Professional Mike Rademaker.
